Starting off with a dominating victory, we played our first league game against Duncan Christian winning 48-6 on January 14.

Moving on with high hopes to the Isfeld Invitational tournament in Courtenay this past weekend, we beat Ballenas 29-27 in our first game. In the last fifteen seconds, the score was tied at 27; Alex T then made both of her foul shots earning her MVP of the game. We played hard defence, and denied easy shots by Ballenas, giving us the triumph.

The next day we played a tough game against Stelly’s and kept the score fairly even until half. We couldn’t manage to bring home a win, but played energetically with every team member contributing equally on defence and offensively.

Our final, and best, game was for third place against our rivals, Shawnigan. Each individual on the team played their hardest and greatest yet, yielding an exciting and well-deserved win of 45-29.

Throughout the weekend, we grew tremendously as a team and played very well together. This tournament was a promising start to our season and we are all looking forward to what is ahead of us.
