What are you currently doing professionally?
Currently I’m working on evolving our executive MBA at CITY College into a dual-degree program between the University of York and the University of Strasbourg as well as getting involved in a lot of post-pandemic business research and consulting. I’m also involved in accrediting MBA programs globally.
What achievement(s) are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the impact that my teaching, consulting, and research has had on professionals working in SMEs, to leading MNCs in the eight countries for which I’m responsible. There is no better feeling than knowing you are making a difference through the work you love.
How do you define success?
Success is when one keeps striving to do better, especially following failure.
What motivates you to get out of bed every morning?
The opportunity to make a difference, as small and insignificant as it may seem at the time. Many times, the differences come much later.
What was the last new thing you tried?
The last new thing I tried was to develop a web portal myself and not have to rely on our IT department. It worked – but they won’t admit it!
Specific skill(s) you developed at Brentwood that you use to this day?
Public speaking with respect for others and their opinions.
Favourite Brentwood Teacher(s):
All were impactful but Rob MacLean stood out.
He introduced me to the world of public speaking and debating which still impacts me to this very day whether I’m talking to 5 people or 500. I now volunteer at a local high school teaching various types of public speaking and oratory techniques. His words of wisdom still resonate and are now impacting others.
Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”
One piece of advice for current Brentwood students?
Let your dreams guide you, but not blind you! Be explorers and get ready for the next change you will need to adapt to.
