Laura Richardson, B.A. (Simon Fraser University), B.Ed. (University of British Columbia)

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at Simon Fraser University, Laura Richardson decided to pursue a family tradition and became a teacher. She completed her B.Ed. at the University of British Columbia in 1991. As teaching jobs were scarce in Vancouver, she headed home to the Fraser Valley where she taught in the Chilliwack School District for eight years. During this time, Ms. Richardson married, had a son, and began to realize that a change was needed. Trading the fresh water of Cultus Lake for the salty Island coast in 2001, she not only became the Assistant Houseparent in Alexandra House, but also welcomed a new daughter. Living in a house with 50 girls brings new adventures daily. Ms. Richardson hopes that the experience will have taught her something about the teenage mind by the time her own children reach their teens. Ms. Richardson is married to mathematics teacher and outdoor pursuits guru, Dan Norman.
