John Garvey, B.Sc. (University of Exeter, U.K.)

Educated at school in London and at Exeter University, John Garvey made several rep appearances for London Schools (soccer and cricket), English Universities, British Universities, and the English A.F.A. (soccer). After two years teaching in London, he immigrated to Canada, joining Brentwood in 1971. An avid and accomplished athlete, he has won Island Division 1 honours in both rugby and soccer, and coached soccer at university, senior men's, high school, and juvenile levels. At Brentwood, he is known as a superb teacher of mathematics, and has served as Athletic Director and Head of the Math Department. Mr. Garvey's responsibilities as Deputy Head of School include daily administration, scheduling, and discipline. A formidable competitor in soccer, golf, and tennis, Mr. Garvey also enjoys photography and crosswords.
