John Allpress, B.Sc., B. Comm. (University of Canterbury, N.Z.)

Raised and educated in the South Island of New Zealand, Deputy Head of School, John Allpress, has degrees in science and commerce from the University of Canterbury. After playing representative rugby for Canterbury and teaching mathematics for three years in Christchurch, the lure of powder skiing brought him to Canada. Since joining the faculty in 1980, Mr. Allpress has served as Houseparent of Rogers, Head of the Mathematics Department, coach of the 1st XV rugby team, coach of the Colt rowing squad, and Director of Admissions. He was appointed Deputy Head of School in 2000. A passion for the outdoors prevails when he is away from Brentwood: Mr. Allpress finds time to ski and fly fish with his son, and enjoys any opportunity to spend time on horseback with his wife, Celia, at ther family's Alberta ranch in the foothills of the Rockies.
