Bruce Tate, B.Sc. (University of Calgary)

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Bruce Tate arrived on this planet with a voltmeter in one hand and an axe in the other. His passion for science revealed itself quite early, and he had already built his first Geiger counter by the age of 14. Although rarely seen with a pocket protector until he was much older, he was a notorious experimenter, righteously determined to understand every aspect of the world around him. Fortunately, he married a long-suffering woman who tolerated his academic obsessions as well as his determination to build a house in the middle of a large forest at the edge of the ocean. His passion for science has been dampened neither by fatherhood nor by a five year stint as Houseparent of Rogers House. Mr. Tate's present roles include teacher of physics and Head of the Science Department. Previous experience as conductor of the creative science programme allows him to regale students with deliciously frightening tales of near-death experiences.
