On Wednesday May 3rd, The Brentwood Guitar Ensemble performed in the Highlights Concert at the University of Victoria. The Guitar Ensemble came first in their division at the Victoria Music Festival, allowing us to go to the highlights concert and winning us a cheque for two hundred dollars. Our Captain was Jade M, Allard ‘17 who was given the difficult task of herding the entire group around the UVIC campus and into the waiting room. After watching the first half of the concert, the Guitar Ensemble was one of the first performances kicking off the second half. The group then warmed up and performed our song of choice which was “Free” by Donavon Frankenreiter.  Every year at the end of this even, Mr McGill takes the group to Dairy Queen as a reward for all of the practice and hard work we have done to get to this point. However, our strings were put out of tune as we drove right past the Dairy Queen on our way back home due to how late the performance finished. I’m sure Mr McGill will come through with the ice cream before the end of the year. ;-) $200 worth! Our next performance will be at the Summer’s Eve Concert in the Killy Theatre June 8 and 9. It is a 7:30 curtain.  Graeme M, Rogers ‘19
