Senior Boys Rugby 1
Rugby will always have pride of place in the Brentwood identity, and despite a heart-breaking loss in the Provincial finals last season and the graduation of much of that team, this year’s contenders were full of hope and ambition.
The inexperience and step-up to senior rugby for many of the players showed in early fixtures, but a home match against a more seasoned Shawnigan side under blue skies on Gillespie Field in April changed all that, with the boys matching their much larger opponents in mettle and fizz before narrowly coming up short.
The team started to believe, come together as a group, and trust each other, resulting in some flowing rugby on route to victories up and down the Island. With another crack at provincials to come, this year’s side now understand full well what it means to play for the Brentwood badge and the honor and pride of wearing the red and black.
Just like the many who came before us, on and on we go …
