The Mid-Island Track Meet was held on May 9-10 in Duncan and was the first step to provincial qualification. These Brentwood athletes have been attending weekly practices run by Coach Heisterman (track) and Coach Griffiths (field) and have been long awaiting this meet. Thanks also to Mrs Reynolds & Mr Skardal for their time and effort on our behalf. Despite it being the first track & field meet of our season, Brentwood came back with some amazing results that put us in a promising position to be successful at Islands.

Brentwood sent a total of 16 skilled athletes, each individually bringing something to the team. Whether it was running, jumping or throwing, Brentwood dominated the podium, bringing home a total of 14 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze. Brentwood also competed in a total of 3 relays, taking first place in each one.

The track team has big expectations to fill as the Island Championships which take place in Victoria on May 17-18, which will produce the athletes who will be sent to the BC provincial track meet in June. Here are our results: Torren 100m - 1st / 200m - 2nd / Javelin - 5th / Long jump - 3rd; Tyler 100m - 2nd / 400m - 1st / 800m - 1st; Ben 200m - 2nd / Discus - 1st / Javelin - 4th / high jump - 4th / long jump - 5th; Femi 200m - 1st; Ope 400m - 1st; Keaton 400m - 3rd / Discus - 2nd / Javelin - 1st / High jump - 6th / Long jump - 4th; Casper 400m - 2nd; Luke 400m - 3rd; Madison 800m - 1st; Ori 3000m - 1st; Jessica Discus - 6th / long jump - 3rd; Tony Discus - 3rd / Javelin - 2nd / Shot put - 3rd / High jump - 1st / Long jump - 2nd; Ayo Discus - 1st / Shot put - 1st; Liam Discus - 2nd / Shot put - 5th; Sion Javelin - 1st / Shot put - 2nd; Keiran High jump - 1st
