The Junior Boys had a fantastic year training on the waters of Mill Bay and in their racing season around Vancouver Island. Yale H established himself early as a real leader in the crew, helping with deciding how to dress the crew and working out the logistics of communication. Thomas L proved his strength throughout the year by being the consistent leader in ergometer testing. William W and Axel E must surely win the award for pushing themselves the hardest all season; they were the most consistent in achieving the best results on the crew’s 30:30 erg workouts.  The boys worked hard all season achieving good results at the Elk Lake Spring Regatta, Duelling Over a Grand Regatta, and the Maple Bay Regatta. While they did not win many races early in the season, they showed great perseverance in pursuing Mrs Coy’s goal for them of going the fastest they could in their lane. By the end of the season, they were getting much better results. They steadily gained speed all year and were able to qualify for Nationals in St. Catharines.  Jesse H and Konrad K could easily both vie for the honour of most improved oarsperson this year; they both made incredible gains in technical skill as the year unfolded. Alejandro PB was always cold as is befitting a young man born in warmer climes who spent the winter rowing along the shores of a temperate rainforest.  Finishing their local racing season, the boys came third in the eight at the Shawnigan Regatta, and a highlight was Axel and Konrad winning the Novice double. They all worked hard and should be congratulated for a successful season as they move on to CSSRAs. It has been an honour and a privilege to coach such fine young men this year! Mrs Gillian Coy
