And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. - Samuel 17:48 On Thursday, our Junior Boys Rugby team took on a massive and athletic juggernaut from South Delta Secondary, and despite being outsized, prevailed in a close encounter, winning 21-17. South Delta, with a full second unit as well as their senior team, provided a boisterous sideline which added to the intensity of the encounter, with each crunching tackle eliciting a thunderous response. And there were plenty of crunching tackles. Brentwood withstood waves of pressure as South Delta piled into rucks and attacked directly at the opposition line.  Nonetheless, Brentwood bent but did not break, and scored first from a Matthew M, Rogers ‘19  end-to-ender 15 minutes in. South Delta finally turned pressure into points, by scoring twice in short order. Undeterred, Brentwood scored again in the dying stages of the first half, again from a rambling run from Matthew M, and finally dotted down by Scott J, Privett ‘19.  The second half was much the same, though Brentwood maintained possession more confidently. They scored another try, again from Matthew, and though South Delta scored in the dying stages, it was too little too late. It was a pleasing win for the team, who attacked with flair and defended with pride. Mr Phil Smith, Coach & Raconteur
