Cowichan Top 20

Last Sunday, five Brentwood student athletes were recognized at the Cowichan Valley Top 20 high school athletes awards. The athletes were William MP, Madison H, Siôn Griffiths, Griffin FR & Brendan S. Each athlete was given a commemorative personalized hoodie, a custom cheesecake, stress ball, $20 Sports Check gift card, fitness pass and cinch bag for athletic gear. The event was organized by Don Bodger & Warren Goulding of Askew Creek Publishing who publish the South Cowichan Echo, Duncan Free Press, Chemainus Courier and Arbutus magazine among other ventures in the Valley.   The lunchtime banquet, hosted by Shawnigan Lake School, also featured Guest speaker Jim Taylor, a Canadian icon in sports reporting, who kept the audience in stitches with his humorous stories and anecdotes of a life spent writing about sports. It was a wonderful event and all the athletes present were interviewed about their achievements and life just like a segment on any televised awards ceremony. They performed magnificently.
