Charity Work Day 2015

29 March 2015

As Anne Frank once said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.”  Earlier today 65 groups of six Brentwood students each were out into the community to work for a variety of businesses and private citizens. Students were off doing all sorts of jobs from yard work and cleaning to sorting and painting. Although the majority of students were working locally in Duncan and Mill Bay, some were taken as far as Chemainus. Charity Work Day was re-introduced last year and with it being such a success, Brentwood carried on this tradition once again. The school raised over $10,000 in donations that will be distributed to local charities and produced more than 2500 hours of volunteer service. Clearly, it was another highly triumphant event. Students also received astounding feedback from all venues and now see the benefits in this great contribution to our Valley community.  A huge thank you goes out to the Food Services staff for providing to-go lunches, Transportation for bussing all students to their locations, and our dedicated faculty members for going out into the community with each group of students. Thank you also to Mrs. Felix, as always, for her incredible dedication in organizing this event and making it a success once again. Brynn A, Hope ‘15
