On Saturday, March 1st, instead of heading to the usual class routine starting at 10:15, students from grade ten to twelve gathered in the Bunch Theater for Brentwood’s annual Careers Day. In the theater, a number of Brentwood alumni speakers were introduced and they spoke briefly about their career paths. Following this, students proceeded to their first of the two sessions they had selected earlier in the week. Careers Day is an event Brentwood puts on that is comprised of ten speakers positioned around the campus. Each student then has the opportunity to see two presentations of their choice before continuing on to their regular sports afternoon. The presenters, being Brentwood alumni, come from around the world to volunteer their time to share their knowledge. This is an amazing opportunity because it allows us to ask any questions we may have and get the inside scoop from people who have been students at Brentwood. The alumni included grads from 1975 to 2012.  Through a variety of presentations, students are able to attend ones that fit their current interests and career paths they may be interested in. It is through this special event that students are able to learn what it would be like working in their career path and what prerequisites, experience and qualities are needed.  This cohort of alumni from Brentwood coming back to share their stories was truly inspiring. When asked why they volunteered to share their time with us, the response was simple: they wanted to give back to Brentwood. The knowledge and personal experience they shared is fascinating for Brentwood’s current students to listen to. And for this, we thank the Brentwood alumni, and Ms Stephanie Young, the organizer, for making the event such a positive experience.  Maddie M, Allard ‘15
