An Arab Spring Hits Mill Bay

Dr. Gwynne Dyer, Canadian historian and independent journalist, spoke to the school this morning on his perspectives on the continuing  ‘Arab Spring’.  Dr. Dyer, who last spoke at Brentwood in 2009 about U.S. President Obama’s challenges, addressed the school on recent events in the Middle East as pro-democracy protesters have toppled regimes in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya and continue to exert influence in most other Arab nations. His historical perspective, referring back to events in the middle of the 20th century, gave context to news reports that are appearing in the daily news.

Dr. Dyer later spoke to a group of Grade 12s and he will be back on the Bunch stage this evening at 7:30. Tickets, $10, are available at the door.
