Meet the Advancement Team
Deputy Head - Email John
Raised and educated in the South Island of New Zealand, I have degrees in science and commerce from the University of Canterbury. After playing representative rugby for Canterbury and teaching mathematics for three years in Christchurch, the lure of powder skiing brought me to Canada. Since joining the faculty in 1980, I have served as Houseparent of Rogers, Head of the Mathematics Department, coach of the 1st XV rugby team, coach of the colt rowing squad, and Director of Admissions. I was appointed Deputy Head of School in 2000 with particular responsibility for establishing an advancement team to raise funds to finance the Bunch Centre for Performing Arts, the Maeda Health Centre, Allard House, a new Dining Room and Student Services Centre, and a classroom block to replace the ten teaching spaces and four visual arts studios presently located to the north of the Boat House/Founders Plaza. With equal priority I have worked to build Brentwood’s endowment which provides financial assistance for worthy students, and hope to see it reach the $20 million mark before I retire. A passion for the outdoors prevails when I am away from Brentwood; I find time to ski and fly fish with my son, Jack (Class of 2004), and enjoy roaming the foothills of the Rockies on horseback with my wife, Celia, at her family's ranch in the Kananaskis, southwest of Calgary.
Alumni Relations Coordinator - Email Reesa
I consider myself very fortunate to have grown up on beautiful Vancouver Island, alongside my amazing family who still live in Maple Bay and Victoria. Although not a graduate of Brentwood, I reflect warmly on memories of attending the Brentwood Regatta during my high school rowing career, and feel lucky to once again experience this event, but now from the perspective of an Alumni Relations Coordinator here at Brentwood. My passion for athletics took me to the University of Texas at Austin, where I competed on a full rowing scholarship and completed my bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology. I have an extensive background in event planning, communications, and program management, and I’m thrilled to be the point person for all alumni events, activities, and inquiries. I warmly welcome you to connect with me about upcoming initiatives, new ideas, or just to say hello.
Annual Giving Manager - Email Tracy
I was born & raised in Victoria but now enthusiastically live in the Cowichan Valley with my husband Glenn and dog Bella where we enjoy the perks of the Valley. From the hiking & mountain biking trails to the vineyards and eateries – there is always something to explore. Our daughter Annie is in her third year of an Honors Criminal Justice & Public Policy degree at the University of Guelph.
My career has taken me from working in the field of labour relations at a Toronto law firm to post-secondary institutions including VIU, Royal Roads and the University of Victoria. At the University of Victoria, I worked in various departments, including the Provost’s Office, Ceremonies & Events and Corporate Relations. When my family relocated to the Cowichan Valley in 2010, I accepted a position at Queen Margaret’s School where I spent the past five years working as the Director of Development & Alumni Relations.
The next chapter of my career has brought me to Brentwood College School in the position of Annual Giving Manager. I am delighted to be part of a team which value education, integrity and respect for all members of our community.
I am proud to represent Brentwood College at every opportunity I get, whether it’s attending a function, travelling and meeting new families or advocating for our Annual Giving Campaign.
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have something you would like to share, and if you are in town, my door is always open!
Advancement Associate - Email Chris
I have had the great good fortune to live the majority of my life in Victoria. I attended independent school where my lifelong love for sport, fitness and active health – particularly rugby – was sparked. I played the game in school, at the University of Victoria and for my club, now Castaway Wanderers where I have served as President and continue on as a board member.
I am married. Alex and I have three wonderful sons, two daughters in law and, so far, one granddaughter. I am a kayaker, a recreational cyclist, a hiker, a neophyte but enthusiastic fisherman and deeply committed to family, friends and to my community.
I feel extremely fortunate to be working with Brentwood College and their superb Advancement staff. I have worked in Advancement for over 22 years and look forward to doing all I can to engage the support of members of the Brentwood College School community in continuing to strengthen this outstanding school while building on the legacy of giving that has been established by all those who have given and created this magnificent legacy.
