Current Openings
- There are currently no openings
Current openings are listed to the right. Teaching positions may also be listed on the Independent Schools Association of British Columbia and Canadian Accredited Independent Schools websites.
Grade 9-12 Teachers
For your application to be considered and retained on file for two years, please include your résumé, a covering letter explaining what attracts you specifically to Brentwood College School, copies of your university transcripts, and two testimonials or letters of reference. All teachers must have specialist degrees, teaching experience (or practica) at the Grade 9-12 level, and be eligible for B.C. teaching certification, either through the B.C. College of Teachers or the Independent Schools Branch of the B.C. Ministry of Education. Qualifications and/or experience in athletics or the arts are also a significant asset.
Teaching at Brentwood is a lifestyle choice. Almost half the faculty live on campus with their families, and most off-campus faculty live within a twenty-minute drive of the "Brentwood village". A typical full-time position includes teaching four academic courses Monday through Saturday mornings, coaching sports or teaching performing or fine arts on three afternoons, and supervising and mentoring students one other afternoon and evening each week. Because of our boarding school schedule during term, vacations are extended. In addition to a three-week Christmas holiday, two-week spring break, and the summer vacation, there are two six day mid-term breaks in the first and second terms, and the long Victoria Day weekend in the third.
Please send your complete application to Andrea Pennells, Head of School, Brentwood College School, 2735 Mt. Baker Road, Mill Bay, BC, Canada VOR 2P1.
Post-University GAP Resident Assistants
Although Brentwood College School does not offer employment for students choosing a GAP year between school and university, we typically have two openings each year for university graduates - one male, one female - as Resident Assistants, fulfilling this role description. These opportunities appeal to outgoing university graduates, with established interests in athletics or the arts, who are exploring teaching as a career and would welcome the opportunity of experiencing life on Vancouver Island.
For your application to be considered for the year following your university graduation, please include your résumé, a covering letter explaining what attracts you specifically to Brentwood College School, copies of your university transcripts, and two testimonials or letters of reference, by April 30 for a September 1 start each year.
