Computer Aided Drafting in the Lab

Beginner Computer-Aided Drafting and Design

This course will cover the principals of architectural design and building technology. Emphasis will be with the Chief Architect design programme, allowing students to develop a variety of individual projects such as different building types, multi floor buildings, landscaping and residences. The design programme involves manipulating architectural symbols such as walls, floors, stairs, windows, doors and roofs, while producing 2-dimensional drawings and 3-dimensional models.

CADD in Brentwood Computer Lab

Advanced Computer Aided Drafting and Design

After the students have developed an expertise in using the computer design programme, they will be given more complex assignments with emphasis on renderings, interior design and individual projects. As well, they will be taught to produce architectural working drawings. These working drawings are the ones used by builders and contractors to build the project. As their individual projects become finalized, the students will use the plans to construct small-scale models using appropriate materials and tools. This process brings to life a student’s ideas and thoughts and provides them with material for a portfolio for advanced education or employment.
