Brentwood graduates are presented with many Post Secondary Options thanks to our highly experienced University Counselling team. Each year 75% - 80% of our graduating class receive acceptance to their first choice of university. Brentwood is renowned for its exceptional record of quality university placement.
Choosing Your University
Brentwood's university and college counselling team has established an international reputation through developing strong relationships with post-secondary admissions departments, parents, students and Brentwood graduates. The university/ college counselling process becomes more formalized at the end of Grade 10 with guidance on course selection for Grade 11. In Grades 11 and 12, advisors work in tandem with our counselling team to ensure that students leave as many doors open as possible. Throughout, parents are encouraged to participate to help develop the 'list' of potential universities. Through self-evaluation, research, university visits and extensive counselling, students learn to make informed decisions about schools and programmes which most suit their aptitudes and aspirations.
Where Our Graduates Go
Brentwood Graduates attend universities and colleges around the globe. Recent graduates can be found in Canada, the US, the UK, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand and France attending schools such as Harvard, St. Andrews, MIT, Oxford, Queens, McGill, UCLA, UBC, to name just a few.
University Counsellors
Director of University Counselling, Gerald Pennells, B.Sc. (University of Edinburgh), M.Sc. (University of British Columbia), Assistant Director, Rick Rodrigues, B.Ed. (University of Manitoba), and American College Consultant, Tim Zenker, A.B. (Princeton University), M.A.L.S. (Wesleyan University) work with students, parents, and advisors to help students apply for admission to universities and colleges.
Eastern Canadian University Tour
Every year during the Fall Midterm, a group of Grade 12 students tour fifteen universities in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. Students explore the campus facilities and get a first-hand impression of the different institutions in these regions. At nearly every campus students are welcomed by Brentwood alumni who give their valuable personal perspectives. Regardless of which university a student may choose, the ability to contrast and compare so many campus choices makes the tour an incredible opportunity.
SAT Testing Centre
Brentwood is a hosting centre for students who write the SAT examinations. These are held 6 times a year at our school. SAT exams are written by all students seeking to go to a US college or university after graduation from Brentwood. As well, Brentwood hosts the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) each year.
